Haukur Þór was born in 1989 and comes from Seltjarnanesbær. He started his musical studies at eight years old at the Seltjarnarnes Music School where he played the trombone. In 2009 he started his composition studies at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts where his main subject teacher was Atli Ingólfsson. Meanwhile he also finished his advanced level jazz trombone exam and graduated from FÍH Music School . Currently he is studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Richard Ayres and Wim Hendrickx as his main subject teachers and will graduate in 2015.
Haukur has worked with chamber groups like Caput ensemble, Neon ensemble, Aristo Kwartet and Asko/Schönberg as well as being a finalist in the Sorodha composition contest in 2013 in Antwerpen, Belgium. He also plays with the Icelandic balkan band Orphic Oxtra. |
